Stuntkids in training

As I look at the metadata for this video, I’m surprised – January 8?  Hard to believe that over three weeks have gone by since we filmed this.  Time really does fly around here.

Emma still does the backwards crawling/falling routine to get down stairs, but she knows that’s not the most efficient way to do it.  She wants to face front and walk down the stairs like everybody else!  Thankfully, she realizes that that skill is currently beyond her abilities, so we haven’t had to be on the lookout for falling bodies around the stairs.

Okay, scratch that.  Now we do.  This video was taken just minutes after Emma discovered she could climb up one stair, then step/fall down to the floor.  She thought that was just the funnest thing in the world.  Of course, Jonathan has to raise the stakes a little bit.  Then a little bit more.

You know how you’d always hear older people say, “It’s all fun and games ’till someone breaks their neck,” and respond (mentally, if not verbally) with “Pffftt!  Stop being so uptight.  Just chill out!”  Do you?  I know that was me a number of times.  Why, as a teenager in church I’d often lean my chair back against the wall about as far as it could theoretically go (sometimes using the back of my head as the contact point with the wall) without falling backward, much to the chagrin of my Sunday School teachers and teachers quorum advisors.

Well, as they say, turnabout is fair play.  Now WE’RE the older people.  We’re becoming one of them!
