The meaning of "brother"

Yesterday, I overheard Jonathan talking about wanting a brother.  Thinking this was yet another chapter of him saying that we should have another baby, I asked him about it.  His response came back–"Mommy, are brothers dogs?"

What?  Where did that come from?  "No, Jonathan, brothers are people, just like you–not dogs."  I was mystified.  Until I told Bryan the story that evening.

Bryan quickly made the connection to Mulan, a movie Jonathan has been asking for recently.  Mulan’s small and cute dog is named "Little Brother."

So maybe Jonathan just wants a dog, not a new baby.  :)

  1. Don’t you love the connections that kids make? My neice used to talk about the Ear Wacks that lived in her ears. “Mom I have an ear wack!” Stuff like that.

  2. AWWWW! he wants a puppy! How sweet! Cassia, Jonathans imagination is so…… wow!
